This talk will introduce my forthcoming book, a study of the stories we tell about care, and those who depend on it.  It argues that narrative illuminates the problems with our current systems of care, as well as the obscure art of interdependency, the ingenuity and resourcefulness of dependent persons and their caregivers.  It draws from personal experience, while also being a work of scholarship that treats care as a form of work, a feeling, an ethic, and an art.
